How it works

A finished image in four simple steps

1

Upload a portrait or headshot

Use the original image when possible so hair and small accessories retain useful detail.

2

Start with Fine edges

Fine is selected by default for hair, glasses, earrings, clothing edges, and gaps around arms. Fast remains available for a simpler outline.

3

Choose transparency or a solid color

Download a transparent PNG for later layout work, or select a solid color and export a composed JPG.

Made for real work

One clean tool, many useful outcomes

Flexible layout

Create a transparent portrait

Keep a transparent master when the same portrait will appear on several branded backgrounds.

Simple backdrop

Place the portrait on a solid color

Choose a neutral or brand color and inspect the preview before exporting the composed image.

Edge review

Give human details a closer look

Fine mode helps with soft boundaries, but hair, glasses, earrings, clothing, and gaps between limbs still deserve inspection.

Inspect portrait edges before you publish

Zoom in around flyaway hair, glasses, earrings, clothing, and the gaps between arms and the body. Try another solid background color to reveal halos that transparency can hide.

Purgebg removes the background only. It does not promise a particular crop, facial editing, or acceptance by a social network, employer, government, or other third party.

Common questions

Good to know before you start

Why does this page start in Fine mode?

Portraits often contain soft hair and small accessories. Fine uses the full-precision local model; Fast is still useful for simple, high-contrast outlines.

Can I use a solid color instead of transparency?

Yes. Keep transparency for a reusable PNG, or select a solid color and export JPG when the backdrop should be part of the final image.

Does this tool resize or retouch a profile photo?

No. It changes the background. You remain responsible for dimensions, framing, appearance, and the requirements of the service receiving the image.
